Hamilton: McLaren 'will always be my family'

Lewis Hamilton is preparing to compete in his last Grand Prix with McLaren just one week after his victory at the US Grand Prix in Austin. After having evolved with the British team since its beginnings in F1 in 2007, the Briton is preparing to make a new start by replacing Michael Schumacher in Mercedes from 2013. If this choice generated quite a few réactions within his team, the 2008 world champion admitted on Sky Sports that he would always have great respect for the team with which he won the title.

“I’m leaving home to travel a little”, he commented on the British channel. " Never say never. I had a wonderful time there. I think this team will always be my family. I will always see it as my home, this is the team I come from and going back there would be a great day. But I want to go and experience new things during my career. It's almost like I'm leaving home to take a trip. I just do it with someone else. »
