Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) was in good shape this Friday in Las Vegas. The seven-time world champion dominated the first two sessions of the weekend in the City of Vice. During the first session, the Briton largely dominated the debates with a one-second margin on everyone. An advantage that was greatly diminished during the second session, with only 0.011 seconds of margin on Lando Norris (McLaren). The star's other driver, George Russell, was also on the pace with a second and then a third place.

« This is the first time I've had a day like this this year, said Lewis Hamilton after this positive start to the weekend. The car generally performed well in FP1, less so in FP2. It's hard to know exactly where we are or why we are where we are, but I'm really enjoying driving on the track and I think we'll see if the car is the same tomorrow. »

The future pilot Ferrari has doubts about the ability of his car to perform well on Sunday. The race pace is not great so we have to work overnight to figure out how to improve it without losing lap time, but it was nice to get through the sectors and not be thrown off by the car, which was good. »

George Russell is of the same opinion. I would like to tell you why, but to be honest, we wonder a little why it was so positive., he explained. Of course it was just a practice. Lewis also did a great job, he's really been on top since the first lap today, the car is working perfectly. »

« We are on a street track, it's really dirty, it's going to get faster and faster with each lap, Russell analysis. Just because we were fast today doesn't mean we'll necessarily be fast tomorrow, the track will probably be three seconds faster. "The driver of the No. 63 is also wary of the hidden potential of other teams." They could use more fuel than us on Friday and get back to their normal position by taking it off. I'm sure our rivals will work hard tonight and close the gap. Hopefully we can continue this momentum. »

Meet at 3:30 a.m. on Friday night for Free Practice 3 of the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Hamilton said that in free practice, the car is well balanced. In qualifying, it is another car since the start of the 2024 competition. Everything is done to humiliate Hamilton and prevent him from winning his 8th title of fear dropped Michael Schumacher a blank.
