Hamilton didn't know what to do behind the wheel

The European Grand Prix held last weekend in Baku (Azerbaijan) did not please Lewis Hamilton. The pilot Mercedes, who started only tenth after an accident in qualifying, was only able to take fifth place after encountering technical problems with his W07 Hybrid.

“I didn’t know what to do at all. There are something like 16 settings for the motor and around XNUMX specifications for each. I didn't know what problem I had. I just lacked power”, explained Lewis Hamilton who finds himself 24 points behind his teammate Nico Rosberg.

“It fixed itself. I saved the engine because I was 14 seconds behind the next car (Kimi Räikkönen) with eight laps to go. I remembered that I didn't have as many engines as the others for the rest of the season. »

His team was unable to give him instructions to correct the settings, being limited by the regulations regarding radio conversations.

“I don’t see the benefit. The FIA made the F1 so technical, added the three-time world champion. There are probably a hundred settings. I had no way of knowing what to do, no matter how much I studied it. It was a shame I couldn't fight. If I could have resolved the problem, I might have been able to put on a show by catching up with the cars in front of me.
