Hamilton: “Nico got another gift”

Bad luck has befallen again Lewis Hamilton who will only start from 15th place on the grid for the German Grand Prix after leaving the track at turn 13 following a broken brake disc. If the Briton shares the same mount as Nico Rosberg who took a new pole at Hockenheim, he has a different braking system since he uses Brembos while his teammate uses Carbon Industrie brakes. “It's a little painful, as always in these types of accidents. I had to collect around 30G. It took me completely by surprise, it happened so quickly. You are 100% confident in your car while driving and you never enter a corner thinking what is going to happen. It was a real shock when I hit the brakes. »

If Lewis Hamilton is not responsible for his accident, this new bad luck is enough to weigh down the morale of the driver Mercedes. But the Briton can count on the performance of his car to climb to the forefront if the weather and the reliability of his machine allow him. “Nico got another present, but we’ll see what we can do tomorrow”, commented the 2008 world champion after leaving the medical center. “We have to take a step back, there are still many races to go. I find it hard to believe, but these things can happen. We did a really good job on the setup, the car was fantastic, and I couldn't do more than five laps! »

Lewis Hamilton could be forced to start from the pits at Hockenheim if Mercedes F1 decides to install Carbon Industrie brakes like those of Nico Rosberg's W05 against the Brembos with which the 208 world champion was the victim of a breakage ruining his qualifying for the German Grand Prix. According to the regulations, such a change would force the Briton to start from the pits.

The start of the German Grand Prix will be at 14 p.m. and will be followed live on AUTOhebdo.fr. Photos of the event can be viewed on this link.
