That the fans of Lewis Hamilton are reassured. Even after more than 3 months of technical unemployment, the guy still knows how to drive a car de Formula 1 (and quickly we assume).
The Briton was on track this Wednesday at Silverstone, where he took over from his teammate Valtteri Bottas driving the Mercedes W09 of 2018. The team wanted to take advantage of these two days to test its health protocol, Covid-19 requires, and allow its drivers to get back to their feet before the start of the school year in Austria on July 5.
While Bottas was able to enjoy a dry track on Tuesday, Hamilton had to deal with an all-British drizzle.
« I'm used to it, I grew up with it, he joked after his day at work in a video posted by Mercedes. It was super cool to get back behind the wheel. You still have the same enthusiasm when you leave the garage, no matter if you've done it thousands of times before.
We were able to complete our program despite the weather. I feel ready and in good shape. When you don't ride for a long time, you always wonder if you can ride. Well it's like I never stopped ».
The opposite would still have frankly surprised us…
“I’m ready. I feel fit » It's Lewis' lowdown after another busy day of Testing at Silverstone!
