Hamilton benefits from Ferrari woes

Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) won the 87th pole of his career by winning qualifying for the German GP despite his ailing condition. The Briton almost gave up his place to the reservist Esteban Ocon before changing his mind.

In his misfortune, Lewis Hamilton was successful by taking advantage of the worries of Ferrari. Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) was unable to qualify in Q3 following a problem with the fuel system after going to the weigh-in. It's even worse for Sebastian Vettel who will start from the back of the grid after encountering a turbo air supply problem during Q1.

Max Verstappen (Red Bull) completes the first row more than 3 tenths behind. Valltteri Bottas (Mercedes) and Pierre Gasly (Red Bull) follow on the second row ahead of Kimi Räikkönen (Alfa Romeo) and Romain Grosjean (Haas). The Frenchman is ahead Carlos Sainz Jr. (McLaren) and Sergio Pérez (Racing Point) but is under investigation for a maneuver in the pits.

Antonio Giovinazzi (Alfa Romeo) was the first eliminated from Q2. The Italian failed by a hundredth of Sergio Pérez (Racing Point) in ahead Kevin Magnussen (Challenge), Daniel Ricciardo (Renault), Daniil Kvyat (Toro Rosso) and Lance stroll (RacingPoint).

Lando Norris (McLaren) was the first eliminated from Q1, failing by half a tenth of a second from Daniil Kvyat (Toro Rosso). Alexander albon (Toro Rosso) follows in 17th place ahead of the Williams by George Russell and Robert Kubica.

The German GP will be contested this Sunday from 15:10 p.m. The race will be followed live on Canal+ and with our live text.
