Hamilton delighted with his fights with the Ferraris

That one, Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) didn’t get it by chance! The Briton managed to extinguish the flame in the clan of the Team Ferrari on its own territory, on the Monza circuit (Italy) on Sunday, with a victory acquired both tactically and in terms of driving.

Behind the wheel of the W09, Lewis Hamilton first beat Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) at the start. At the second chicane, the Mercedes moved outside the Ferrari, and was able to take second position through this offensive maneuver. Too bad if his opponent finished the wrong way.

" It worked ! It was a normal attack. That’s a bit what Kimi (Räikkönen) did to me a few laps later. I don't really know what to add. We're supposed to attack each other. I left room for Sebastian, defends the winner of the day, thus contradicting the German's version.

I'm sure his comment was made in the heat of the moment. I'm sure that means nothing on his part in this context. » Lewis Hamilton is clearly calm, and for good reason: this victory allows him to increase his lead to 30 points with seven rounds remaining.

Success was achieved after a duel with Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari). During their first stint, the two men engaged in a nice battle, before the gap stabilized around the second to the Finn's advantage. “My restart was effective, but Kimi quickly overtook me. It was a good attack on his part, I gave him enough space. »

On the other hand, the decisive blow around ten laps from the finish was more muscular. “He defended his place on the outside, then turned slightly to the right and then to the left. But that didn't cause me any problems, and it came down to braking as late as possible at the first corner. Kimi played it fair. It was close, but that’s what motorsport should be,” he says.
