Hamilton achieves Bahrain test benchmark

Despite an electrical problem in the morning, Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) set the best time on the first day of testing F1 in Bahrain with a time of 1'31''358 by completing almost a hundred laps. The Briton was more than 6 tenths ahead of Antonio Giovinazzi (Ferrari) where the Team concentrated his work.

Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) was at the wheel of the second SF70H on track at the Sakhir circuit, the four-time world champion working on Pirelli's 2018 season tires, but the German saw his program disrupted in the afternoon by engine problems. he finished in 9th place.

Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) completes the top three after setting the best time of the morning. The Australian also suffered an engine problem forcing him to stop on track.

Romain Grosjean (Haas) took 4th place after testing the new Carbone Industries brake calipers instead of the Brembo usually used. Felipe Massa (Williams) completed the top five ahead Nico Hulkenberg (Renault).

Lance stroll (Williams) finished 7th ahead of Sean Gelael (Toro Rosso) who also saw his day disrupted by two stops on the track. Alfonso Celis Jr (Force India) completes the top ten ahead of Marcus Ericsson (Sauber).

Oliver Turvey (McLaren) was able to return to the track after completing only two laps of the facilities in the morning. The Briton completed a total of 17 laps in Bahrain behind the wheel of the MCL32, topping out the leaderboard.
