Hamilton regrets the old Hockenheim track

Lewis Hamilton would have liked to achieve a better result than an eighth place at Silverstone, but the Briton already benefits from unconditional fervor from his supporters. Since his debut in 2007, the Briton has won 18 victories and a title in 2008 within the team McLaren. “I was able to quickly recover from his disappointment at Silverstone by carrying the Olympic flame before turning my attention to Hockenheim. It’s incredible but next weekend will be my 100th Grand Prix. I can't believe it because I still remember my first race in F1 like it was yesterday. I imagine F1 has that effect on people. »

The McLaren driver is happy to return to Hockenheim and regrets not having had the chance to drive on the old track present until the early 2000s. “I always regret not having experienced the F1 of the past with the old Hockenheim track, where the track disappeared into the forest for several kilometers and was only cut by a few fairly fast chicanes. It must have been incredible battles with a low downforce circuit, battling with another car, chasing it and choosing the right moment to overtake. I still really like the current track, it’s a place built for racing. This is the first time we will run with DRS at Hockenheim and it should make the race more exciting. »
