Hamilton rejects pressure on Red Bull

The pre-season period is generally synonymous with well-intentioned little sentences from the paddock. Formula 1. Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) delivered an analysis of the forces present for the opening of the year in Melbourne (Australia, March 23 to 25), and surprise: the Briton does not talk about the Team Ferrari (although victorious a year earlier and vice-world champion), but target Red Bull, who stood out with solid stints during winter testing in Barcelona (Spain).

“I think Red Bull is (The car) the fastest yet, announced the quadruple champion on the sidelines of a promotional operation. From what I've heard, they will have a big improvement for Australia, around two to four tenths of a second better per lap. It will be interesting to watch, because the teams are not developing at the same pace. »

Lewis Hamilton is experienced in F1, but also in media schemes. By placing the training of Daniel Ricciardo et Max Verstappen among the favorites, he tries to get rid of the psychological pressure linked to his status as No. 1 driver, and throw it back on the stable of Milton Keynes (Britain).

“Their car usually has a lot of downforce. Their maximum downforce has always been higher than other F1 cars. But it won't work on all circuits (such as Monza), believes the wearer of number 44. Last year, there was a big gap between the teams at the start of the season, but it got closer as the races went on. But in 2018, I think it will be tighter from the start. Then, the gaps will come and go depending on the development work of each team. »
