Hamilton: Taking over Alonso will be difficult

The last victory of Lewis Hamilton at Monza allowed the driver McLaren to climb into second place in the Championship, 37 points behind the leader Fernando Alonso. If the Woking team is going through a positive phase with three consecutive Grand Prix wins, the driver Ferrari clings to his position despite his retirement at Spa-Francorchamps and takes advantage of the internal battle between his rivals to maintain a respectable lead in the Drivers' standings. Except for his accident at the Belgian Grand Prix, the Asturian has only missed the top five twice this season and his consistency could pay off at the end of the year.

Lewis Hamilton recognizes that the Spaniard's consistency will make his conquest of the title difficult if the Scuderia driver maintains this type of performance until the end of the season. “With such a challenge, it will be difficult”, admitted the 2008 world champion in the Singapore paddock. “He has had an exceptional season so far with exemplary consistency. He would have an even bigger lead if he hadn't had this problem at Spa. He was faster than me that weekend and he would have had even more points in the Championship. He did a very good job, but I hope we can do an even better job for the rest of the season in terms of pressure, consistency and attack. »
