Hamilton feels '1 times better' behind the wheel

Lewis Hamilton has easy hyperbole. This may be due to its American culture and references. In the meantime, the leader Mercedes did the job this Friday on the Hungaroring. First by passing between the drops to set the reference time for Free Practice 1. Then by adding the 3rd time of EL2 with hard tires when both Red Bull in front of him were evolving respectively in tenders for Pierre Gasly and in mediums side Max Verstappen. Beyond the raw results, Hamilton was also happy to report a marked improvement in form compared to Hockenheim.

« I feel 1 times better than last week, declared the leader of the world championship. I'm still sweating a lot so I still have things to get rid of. I really wanted to get back behind the wheel. From the outset, the balance proved satisfactory. We just made a few adjustments to the brakes.

The weather was very tricky today though. From the outside, you might think it's just a little drizzle, but when you're on the track it's falling heavily and the tarmac is very dark here, which makes identifying wet areas more complicated. ».

If Hamilton was the most diligent on the track in EL1 with 41 laps of the Magyar circuit completed, the afternoon session, contested in humid weather conditions, was logically calmer with 15 laps on the clock only for the five-time world champion.

« If you know that the rest of the weekend will take place in dry weather, there is little point in taking to the track in the wet., explained Hamilton. You will make adjustments to improve balance in the rain but it will not be very relevant.

You focus on the dry weather settings. I was surprised to see such tight gaps in EL1 (166 thousandths covered the three top teams, Editor’s note). I hope this will be the case throughout the weekend ».

U.S. too.
