Hamilton wins as boss at British GP

Lewis Hamilton wins his 38th victory in F1 at the British GP by winning for the 3rd time at Silverstone after his successes in 2008 and 2014. After missing his start by falling behind the Williams, the pilot Mercedes regained the advantage by anticipating his first stop and was able to switch to intermediate tires at the right time when the downpour fell on the British track to secure his 5th victory of the season.

Nico Rosberg limits the damage by offering a new double to Mercedes and now falling 17 points behind the Championship leader. The German took advantage of the rain to overtake the Williams. The result remains disappointing for the Grove team, which missed the podium due to poor strategic choices. Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas failed behind the Ferrari de Sebastian Vettel who climbed into the top three after the downpour.

Daniil Kvyat save the weekend Red Bull with 6th place preceding Kimi Räikkönen. The Finn lost several positions by anticipating the arrival of rain too much. Sergio Pérez ranks 9th ahead Fernando Alonso who signs his first top ten of the season by preceding Marcus Ericsson and the Manor of Roberto Merhi and Will Stevens.

The departure caused several casualties in the peloton. Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado gave up on contact. Jenson Button also had to dismount in the first round. The Taureau Rouge single-seaters suffered again since Max Verstappen went off the track at the start of the race while Daniel Ricciardo et Carlos Sainz Jr experienced mechanical problems. Felipe Nasr was not even able to start due to gearbox problems.
