Hamilton gets a second chance at the Nürburgring

Lewis Hamilton recovered well after being in difficulty this morning during the last free practice session for the German Grand Prix. While Mercedes made a big mistake by leaving Nico Rosberg in the pits during Q2, the 2008 world champion shines at the Nürburgring by winning his second consecutive pole after Silverstone, the 29th of his career. The Briton thus offers himself a second opportunity after seeing his hopes of victory disappear in his national race with the delamination of his left rear tire. Sebastian Vettel was however close to the Flèche d'Argent since the Championship leader only failed to reach a tenth of the Flèche d'Argent.

Mark Webber secures third position ahead of Kimi Räikkönen and Romain Grosjean which follow the second RB9 by three tenths. Daniel Ricciardo achieved another great performance by taking sixth place ahead of the Ferrari by Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso who opted for medium tires in order to optimize the race strategy. Jenson Button and Nico Hulkenberg complete the top ten without having achieved a time.

Nico Rosberg will only start from 11th place on the grid after trying to keep his soft tires for the last session. The Force India also missed Q3 with Paul di Resta in 12th place while his teammate Adrian Sutil is only 15th behind Sergio Pérez and Esteban Gutiérrez. Jean-Eric Vergne will have to carry out an attacking race after only qualifying in 16th place ahead of the Williams de Valtteri Bottas and Pastor Maldonado who will do their best to achieve a good result to mark the 600th start for the Grove team. Charles Pic will start from 19th place after being less than a tenth ahead of his compatriot Jules Bianchi.

The start of the German Grand Prix will be given tomorrow at 14 p.m. The race will be followed live on AUTOhebdo.fr. Click on this link to access the photo gallery of the German Grand Prix.
