Hamilton wants Red Bull to join title fight

Titled over the last two years by mainly opposing Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton does not hide the fact that he would welcome a return of Red Bull Racing in the fight for the world title in 2019.

Hamilton wants Red Bull to join title fight

When leaving the engine manufacturer Renault to take up the challenge Honda, Red Bull Racing put an end to a collaboration which notably resulted in four Manufacturers' world titles between 2010 and 2013, during the era of naturally aspirated V8s.

The change of engine block for 2019, with a passage into the Japanese fold, returned with McLaren and who had already motorized the little sister Toro Rosso from 2018, constitutes a reorientation intended according to the management of Milton Keynes, to bring back the single-seaters displaying the red bull to the very front rows alongside Mercedes et Ferrari.

A three-way match that we also hope for… Lewis Hamilton. The reigning world champion would not mind future Red Bull single-seaters interfering in the fight for the title.

“(Mainly), I imagine it's going to be Sebastian (Hag) and Valtteri (Bottas), but Red Bull… they have a great car, and they were very strong at the end of the year, mentions Hamilton, cited by the website of the F1.

They have a new engine next year. Will it be able to compete with ours? I hope so, because it would be epic if Red Bull could really start to get a little more involved in our fight, weekend after weekend. They obviously need to improve their reliability, which put them at a big disadvantage in 2018.”

Toro Rosso “wiped the plaster” last year with Pierre Gasly et Brendon Hartley, regularly penalized on the grid after multiple element changes on the V6 turbo / hybrid Power Units, but this preparatory work could greatly serve Red Bull Racing this year.

Pierre Gasly should also be a more than useful transmission link between Honda and his new employer, he who had worked alongside Japanese engineers in Super Formula in 2017 before arriving in F1 the following year.
