Hamilton: “Always exciting to drive at Monza”

Disappointed by his result at Spa-Francorchamps, Lewis Hamilton wants to take advantage of the Italian Grand Prix to relaunch himself in the championship, he who is 47 points behind Fernando Alonso. " Spa was a bad weekend, but the good thing about having two races in a row is that this disappointment is already behind me, Hamilton explains. Monza is a unique and invigorating circuit so it's easy to put my disappointments aside and concentrate on driving as fast as possible. For me there is something very special about the old circuits of Formula 1, even if they are all very different. The newer tracks all seem to have the same character and the same kind of rhythm, but the older tracks are very different. It seems that it was the landscape that influenced the route rather than the other way around. I like this because you can never relax as you always have to push the car one way or another to get the best out of each lap. »

Second on his debut at Monza in 2007, Lewis Hamilton has never been able to repeat this performance at the wheel of a Formula 1 car. The Briton hopes to be able to win on this circuit that he appreciates so much. “ The first lap out of the pits on Friday is always incredible because you have little downforce and the gear ratios are so long, he adds. This makes it feel like you never stop accelerating, and when you brake the car is very unstable because the fins don't do much to help. You get used to it quickly, but it's always exciting to drive at Monza because it's so different from what you encounter elsewhere. I have never won at Monza before, and I will do everything to achieve it this weekend. »
