Hamilton 'sad and disappointed' by Ecclestone's comments

Lewis Hamilton reacted to Bernie Ecclestone's comments regarding racism. The former financier of the F1 had notably cited the six-time world champion before mentioning “many cases (in which) black people (were) more racist than white people” on the CNN channel.

The pilot Mercedes, the only black competitor on the grid, was shocked by the statements of the former F1 boss and quickly reacted on social networks.

“I am sad and disappointed by these comments, wrote the Mercedes driver on his Instagram account. Bernie has left the sport and he comes from a different generation, but these idiotic and clueless comments perfectly represent what is wrong. This shows us how much society must evolve before achieving true equality. »

“It is now clear to me that nothing has been said or done to make our sport more diverse or to criticize the racism I experienced in my career. If someone who has led the discipline for decades suffers from such a lack of knowledge about the issues faced by black people every day, how can anyone expect everyone who works under him to understand ? It has to start at the top. »

“The time for change has arrived. I will not stop doing my best to offer a future to our discipline offering equal opportunities for all. To create a world that offers equal opportunities for minorities. I will continue to use my voice to represent those who do not have one and to speak on behalf of all those who are underrepresented to give them an opportunity in our sport.", added the six-time world champion.

F1 also communicated on the matter by showing itself firmly opposed to the ideas of Bernie Ecclestone.
