Hamilton: “An incredible feeling”

Literally, Lewis Hamilton was carried by the crowd at the finish of the British Grand Prix to celebrate his fourth success of the year in F1, and the fourth on his lands at Silverstone. Winner in difficult track conditions, the world champion did not have an easy Grand Prix. Already behind the Safety Car at the start of the race just before the restart, Hamilton almost hit the race management car, before giving himself a big scare by veering wide at turn 1, like many of his rivals this Sunday, but without unfortunate consequences for the driver Mercedes.

“Behind the safety car, my rear brakes were really low on temperature, so I was trying to warm them up. The safety car was so slow, you can't imagine. I'm sure he's going as fast as he can, but our car is so fast... And then I had this oversteer but then I kept making up time. »

More than these fears, it was really the communion with the Silverstone public that the Briton wanted to remember after the finish. “It was a great moment. But since 2007, I've always felt this incredible energy from these fans here, the best fans in the world, without a doubt, and the best audience.

I've grown up with them over the years and obviously naturally when you have success it strengthens the bond, that bond that you have. It's an incredible feeling. »
