Hamilton: “A greater force prevents me from winning”

Lewis Hamilton struggled to hide his frustration at the end of the Malaysian Grand Prix where he retired with an engine failure although he was well on his way to reducing his gap on his rival Nico Rosberg, the German having made a comeback race after his spin.

The Briton made critical remarks about his team, pointing out the series of mechanical failures only occurring on his W07 Hybrid.

“My questions are addressed to Mercedes. We lost too many engines, Lewis Hamilton told the BBC. Someone needs to give me some answers because this is not acceptable. Something or someone doesn't want to see me win this year. »

Lewis Hamilton's comments did not fail to stir up the media in the paddock of the Malaysian Grand Prix, forcing the three-time world champion to clarify his thoughts.

“You have to understand my point of view. We have had so much success over the last two years for which I am very grateful. The team has worked very hard and we are all saddened at the moment, but it's difficult to say positive things about a retirement after leading the race to the point of failure.", explained the Briton.

“Despite everything, I have 100% confidence in the team, assured Lewis Hamilton. I've been with them for four years. I love being here and I wouldn't have won these two titles without them. I feel like there's a bigger force stopping me from winning, but I feel privileged to have the opportunity to be there. »

Lewis Hamilton is 23 points behind Nico Rosberg with five Grands Prix remaining at the end of the season. The three-time world champion has not won since the German GP at Hockenheim last July.
