Hamilton: Valtteri wouldn't like anyone to do him a favor

Author of pole position in Russia, the Finn seemed to be on track for success before receiving the order to step aside in front Hamilton, which was not yet titled at the time. Now that the Briton has taken the crown, one could imagine him returning the favor.

« The team won't ask us, replied Hamilton when AUTOhebdo asked him about the issue at Interlagos. It's not a subject we discussed with Valtteri but I don't think he wants to win like that. He will want to impose himself regularly and by himself.

I'm not sure I would do him a favor by offering him a victory. He doesn't need that anyway, he can manage on his own. What I can do is show my support throughout the weekend. I'm always very open when it comes to sharing my settings and will continue to do soE.

A few minutes later, Bottas confirmed that he didn't want to win that way.

« I wouldn't want victory handed to me on a platter, blurted the Finn. I want to win on my own ».

Bottas, however, admitted that arriving at a race weekend knowing that he will not have to play into the hands of his teammate is a morale boost.

« It's a good feeling, that's for sure, added the man who started from pole in Brazil last year. You know what my objective is this Sunday but I will have to respond to find myself in a position to play for the win ».

Bottas was surprised at the start by Sebastian Vettel last year in Sao Paulo but concluded his season with a victory in Abu Dhabi while Hamilton had already won the title at the Mexico meeting.
