Hamilton wants a more muscular F1

On the sidelines of the Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton went all out, complaining pell-mell about the quality of the show, the current engines and the single-seaters that are too easy to drive. As many grenades as his boss Toto wolff had to turn it off.

“Definitely, Lewis was in good shape today,” joked the executive director of Mercedes before responding to his driver. “I understand that drivers want machines that are difficult to ride, but can we turn back time?

I'm not entirely sure. But when you see the images of exhausted Mansell and Senna collapsing at the finish, it's exciting. We could, artificially, make the F1 more difficult: you would have to remove the power steering.

And then you will have drivers who will suffer to finish a race, because it will be very tiring. It is easy to do. However, this would be a step backwards in terms of technology. It's something you might want to consider for the fun side, but look at the times: we have the fastest cars in history! »

Equally controversial were the Briton's calls for F1 to be "a man's sport." » Words wrongly seen as discriminatory for women since the five-time world champion spoke of machines giving pride of place to sportsmanship rather than technology.

“Lewis is very open about diversity, Wolff wanted to clarify. He meant that F1 should be a gladiatorial sport, with the most difficult machines to drive for the best female or male drivers in the world.

It's good to see that there are more and more girls in karting. Before, for 100 boys, you had 1 or 2 girls and today 5 or 6. This is starting to have an impact. We will see it in 5 years. I really hope we stay in F1 long enough to see a competitive girl in F1. »
