Hartley dismisses Norris rumor

The New Zealander only scored a small point in 6 races when his teammate Pierre Gasly already has 18 units in the bag. Certainly, the Frenchman only entered the Top 10 once more than his garage neighbor but his performances in Bahrain (4th) and Monaco (7th) did not fail to impress.

The first rumors about Hartley's departure appeared from Barcelona where the double world champion WEC had missed qualifying after a big accident in Free Practice 3.

Press Association reported this week that Norris, third pilot McLaren and current leader of the championship Formula 2, had been approached by Toro Rosso to replace the winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2017.

« It's now been 2 weekends in a row where I have had to answer these kinds of questions., Hartley said when asked about the subject in Montreal. I think it's stupid for me to comment on these rumors because they are just rumors.

I am confident in the quality of my work behind the scenes with the team to develop the car. Not everything went great in Monaco in qualifying but I felt competitive all weekend.

I'm going to keep the same approach here, I hope I can put all the ingredients end to end. It makes no sense to comment on these rumors. Looks like there are a lot of them Formula 1. I know I have the level to do a good job ».

At the time of his interview with the media present, Hartley revealed, however, that he had not yet raised the subject with his team principal Franz Tost. On the McLaren side, we also refuse to comment while admitting that we are not surprised to see its drivers being the object of desire.
