Haug happy with Mercedes GP progress

After two very disappointing first Grands Prix, the team Mercedes GP showed its advantage in China, with Nico Rosberg even fighting for the podium for most of the race. Promising performances which make Norbert Haug optimistic ahead of the European season which begins on May 8 on the Istanbul Park circuit. The turnaround in the situation between the Malaysian and Turkish rounds is, however, most impressive, especially since the two events only took place a week apart.

“I cannot promise that we will do the same thing in Turkey, says the vice-president of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport to the British magazine Autosport. But the performance in China was not an illusion. Ross sat down with the guys and engineers, and we changed our approach to race weekends. »

It remains to be hoped that the firm with the star will also have succeeded in resolving the mobile rear wing problems from which the W02s suffered, and in particular that of Michael Schumacher. But on this side too, Norbert Haug wants to be reassuring.

“We had some issues with our DRS, but we have largely resolved them, He continues. We have a different system, but it is a very ingenious system if it works, and we have achieved it in China. »

So much the better, because after a complicated 2010, Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher could start to get impatient. During winter testing, the two Germans expressed their wish, and their hope, to fight regularly for the podium.
