Heidfeld announced at Mercedes

Candidate for a steering wheel at Mercedes Grand Prix, Nick Heidfeld was overtaken by Michael Schumacher during the month of December. Since then, the German at the 169 Grands Prix has been looking for another place on the grid.

In negotiations with Renault, Nick Heidfeld should however join Mercedes GP as third driver according to his manager Andre Theuerzeit.

In Auto Bild, the latter explains: “Nick wants to concentrate fully on his new duties as test driver and bring all his experience to his teammates. Nick wanted a starting place but decisions were slow. We preferred this opportunity. »

Theuerzeit indicated that the contract had not yet been signed but that everything should be settled before the team's presentation in Stuttgart on Monday.

Nick Heidfeld drove a Mercedes at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1999 with Christophe Bouchut and Peter Dumbreck.
