Heidfeld: LRGP will respond to Mercedes

Nick Heidfeld did what he could in Great Britain, but his poor position on the starting grid did not allow him to do better than eighth in the race. Mercedes GP took the opportunity to take fourth place in the Championship from Lotus-Renault GP, pushing the British team to accelerate the development of its developments for the Nürburgring, where the R31s will be tested with a new rear exhaust.

Nick Heidfeld is delighted to see his team react to provide him with car more efficient. “As James Allison (technical director) confirmed, important developments that we have been waiting for for several races are coming. There has been some fabulous work done in the wind tunnel and I am very optimistic about the next results. It is time for us to return to the top teams. »

Above all, the German hopes to improve his qualifying positions to catch up with Mercedes GP in the Championship. “I hope the car performs well because we can get back into the top ten in qualifying and be even stronger in the Manufacturers' Championship. We have to continue the fight with Mercedes, who have just overtaken us. We know that fourth place is more than easily within our reach. »
