Herbert very critical of Schumacher

Crewmate of Michael Schumacher at Benetton in 1994 and 1995, Johnny Herbert was very critical of the German driver. Through comments made in the newspaper The Nation and picked up by Autosport. com, the Briton advises Schumi to step down at the end of the year.

“He is no longer the best driver on the track, Herbert says. Schumacher has not lost his talent, but the new generation of young drivers is simply better than him. The level to establish yourself in Formula 1 has increased, and it no longer meets the required criteria. I don?t think he?s any slower than he was when he won his seven world titles, but he?s facing a situation he?s not used to. He is no longer the best on the grid, and he does not have the best car. In addition, his stablemate Nico Rosberg constantly beats him. He didn?t come back just to fight in the middle of the pack. His dream was to win again and make Mercedes a victorious team. But that's not the case, and I'd be surprised if he continued. »

Last weekend, Michael Schumacher did not give a great performance, and was critical of himself, not looking for excuses for his mediocre performance. In qualifying as in the race, the seven-time world champion was never able to keep up with his young teammate Nico Rosberg.
