Hockenheim remains confident in its future

The situation can quickly evolve into F1, particularly on calendar events. While the future of the Nürburgring was worrying a few months earlier, it is that of Hockenheim which is now giving rise to debate following the purchase of the Eifel circuit by the Capricorn investment group which indicated that the German Grand Prix would only be contested on its route.

But the Hockenheim promoters do not see it that way and are highlighting their contract which binds them to F1 for several more years. “It was Capricorn who communicated this message, not Bernie Ecclestone”, underlined circuit director Georg Seiler to the DPA agency. “It's regrettable to have done this four weeks before the German Grand Prix. It is a rule to keep quiet during negotiations until the contract is signed. We are in regular discussions with (Bernie Ecclestone) but we do not give the details of these conversations… We have known him for 35 years and we have a very good relationship. They are based on trust and we appreciate his professional approach. I'm not worried because we have a contract valid until 2018."
