Honda has announced that the European base which will mark its return as an F1 engine manufacturer will be located in Milton Keynes.

Honda will place its operational base in Milton Keynes

Honda chose Milton Keynes to establish its future European base where it will assume its status as an engine manufacturer in F1 for McLaren from 2015. Located near the Red Bull factory, the Japanese manufacturer will be in the front row to assist its customer team. The Japanese brand will thus be able to limit its travel, with seven of the 19 races on the 2013 calendar still taking place in Europe. Activities should start next June. In the meantime, the development of the future engine block in Tochigi, Japan.

“With the confirmation of a new operational base in Great Britain, our preparation to join F1 becomes more specific and concrete”, comments Yasuhisa Arai, sporting director of Honda R&D. “In order to discover and exceed the expectations of our fans, we will accelerate our development to bring the unique sound of the Honda engine to the track. »
