Hungary EL2: Hamilton continues his momentum

No change in hierarchy at the top of the timesheet during the second free practice session for the Hungarian Grand Prix, contested in the heat of the Hungaroring. The teams were able to test the resistance of Pirelli's soft compounds over the long stints, tires which behaved relatively well over the long sequences. At the chronometric level, it is Lewis Hamilton who again beat Nico Rosberg in 1’24”482. The German failed 0″238 behind the Briton.

Sebastian Vettel takes 3rd place more than six tenths ahead of the Ferrari de Fernando Alonso, last car less than a second from Hamilton. The top 10 is completed by McLaren de Kevin Magnussen, Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari), Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull), Valtteri Bottas (Williams), Jenson Button (McLaren) and Felipe Massa (Williams) who finished 1″920 behind the Mercedes W05 Hybrid head. The Grove cars appeared further behind their last race performances at Silverstone and Hockenheim.

Both Toro Rosso de Kvyat and Vergne failed to reach the top 10 and were among the most diligent on the track while Romain Grosjean experienced cooling problems again on his Lotus E22. The Frenchman only covered 14 laps this Friday afternoon and will have to use the last session tomorrow morning to perfect the fine-tuning of his car on the long stints. Jules Bianchi ranks 20th and this time ahead of his teammate Max Chilton, who completed 35 laps.

The third free practice session will take place tomorrow morning from 11 a.m. and will be available to follow again on AUTOhebdo.fr.
