Hungary-EL2: Vettel in the lead in the rain

The showers which swept the suburbs of Budapest this Friday afternoon gave rise to a hierarchy different from that of Free Practice 1 run in the dry.

With a time of 1'40 "464, Sebastian Vettel hoisted Ferrari at the top of the timesheet. The four-time world champion is ahead of Mercedes de Valtteri Bottas of 0″272, while Carlos Sainz (McLaren) completes the Top 3 by more than 1”3.

Follow the Racing Points of Lance stroll and Sergio Pérez. After not being able to set any timed laps this morning due to an engine alert, Pierre Gasly points in 6th position with its Alpha Tauri-Honda.

The Frenchman is ahead of Red Bull from his former teammate Max Verstappen, And the Haas of his compatriot Romain Grosjean. Kimi Räikkönen (Alfa Romeo) and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) complete a first half of the picture with an unusual look.

Only 13 drivers completed a flying lap during these FP2, the other 3 classified riders being Antonio Giovinazzi (Alfa Romeo), Lando Norris (McLaren), and Daniil Kvyat (AlphaTauri).

Author of the EL1 reference earlier today, Lewis Hamilton barely got wet. The six-time world champion only covered one installation lap. Nothing to worry about for the Briton, whose prowess we could appreciate in the rain in qualifying last Saturday.

The 20 holders of the 2020 grid could well encounter similar conditions tomorrow since the weather for the weekend looks uncertain at the Hungaroring. Free Practice 3 will take place tomorrow at 12 p.m. before qualifying begins at 15 p.m.
