Horner: “At a dead end”

Christian, how do you see the current situation in Formula 1 ?
We have just had a very busy 24 hours but the problem goes back much further. We have reached a deadlock between FOTA (the team association, editor's note) and the FIA. I think that a lot of effort was made by the teams to find a compromise. We really did everything we could to find a solution. But as I said, we are at an impasse. The decisions we took are in the press release which was established following our meeting (see elsewhere).

Is retiring from Formula 1 still a decision with serious consequences?
We did not take our decisions lightly. We adopted a common position after a long deliberation between the different teams. Certainly, it was a difficult decision to make. But unfortunately I think that the entry conditions that we had issued when we registered were rejected. I also think the teams reached the stage where they couldn't go any further. So we are at an impasse and have entered a situation where we have to stop and look at what is decided.

However, Formula 1 is the number 1 motorsport…
We want to fight with the best teams, against the best drivers, with the biggest sponsors in the world. If it can't be in Formula 1, then we will have to consider what alternatives we have. We went as far as we could. The situation may change but, for now, we are only here.
