Horner: The team order was justified

Sebastian Vettel was in difficulty with his RB7 in the final laps of the British GP. His faulty SREC allowed his teammate Mark Webber to come back to try to take second place. But while he was on the verge of overtaking the Championship leader, the team asked the Australian to maintain his position.

Christian Horner defends the strategic choice of the Austrian team, which feared a collision similar to that of the 2010 Turkish GP. “The team is the most important thing at the end of the day and no person is more important than the team”, explains the director of Red Bull at Autosport. ?I can understand Webber?s frustration, but the team doesn?t have to take any risks with its two cars. »

The team director specifies that Mark Webber did not listen to the instructions. “Mark clearly chose to ignore the instructions. This is something I will talk to him about privately. This decision was the right one. We couldn't risk losing 33 points. Mark had the opportunity to win this race starting from pole. He didn't succeed, but we will make sure to give him every chance to win again. »
