Horner: The 2014 calendar “beyond the limits”

If the sports director of McLaren Sam Michael believes thata calendar of 22 races can be contested by the teams, most of the paddock does not share this opinion. For the first time in the history of F1, three Grands Prix will be contested consecutively with the Monaco GP, the New Jersey GP and Montreal. The teams are therefore preparing to put in place new logistics if the calendar is confirmed for the next season, but the Korean GP, the New Jersey circuit and the return from Mexico must still be approved.

Christian Horner, Team Principal of Red Bull Racing, strongly hopes that the season will be limited to 20 events. “We all recognize that a 22-race calendar goes beyond the limits with the effort and pressure that the teams and those following F1 will have to endure. If you do 22 races in economy class, flying all over the world... it becomes a very tough season to get through. In my opinion, ideally there should be 20 tests, this is the saturation point. But I understand the fact that Bernie (Ecclestone) is pushing for more events. »
