Horner: Max believes in the potential of the Red Bull-Honda project

Even before the start of the 2020 season, Christian Horner spared himself a real headache and incessant questions about the future of Max Verstappen, who was coming to the end of his contract this year.

The boss of Red Bull Racing indeed had the pleasure of confirming this Tuesday the extension of the Dutchman until 2023, thus repelling possible advances from Ferrari, although it is difficult to imagine the Team associate Verstappen with Charles Leclerc, renewed until 2024, and above all Mercedes

Toto wolff, the captain of the gray house, has never hidden his interest in the Red Bull nugget. He will have to do without it in the near future.

For Horner, it was the performances of the Red Bull-Honda association, crowned with 3 victories for its first season in 2019, which convinced Verstappen to leave his suitcases in Milton Keynes.

« This is excellent news for the whole team, welcomes the British manager. With the challenge of 2021 and the significant regulatory change looming on the horizon, it is important to focus on stability in as many areas as possible. Max is a tremendous asset and he firmly believes in the potential of the partnership established with our engine manufacturer Honda ».

The Austrian team and the Japanese manufacturer are linked until 2021 but we can already assume that good results this year and next year will convince the two parties to extend their union beyond this deadline.
