Horner would not have bet on Red Bull at Spa

Red Bull Racing thought I would suffer at Spa-Francorchamps but it's still good Daniel Ricciardo who won yesterday at the Belgian Grand Prix ahead of Nico Rosberg. The Australian obviously took advantage of the clash between the Mercedes to move into the lead after Nico Rosberg stopped in the pits to change his front wing damaged in contact with his teammate Lewis Hamilton. Despite everything, the result is a real surprise for the Milton Keynes team, as Christian Horner admitted. “We took advantage of the situation at Mercedes, but it’s still satisfying to keep them behind us. I looked at the odds before the race: Sebastian (Hag, 5th) was 20 to 1 and Daniel was 30 to 1. There should be one or two very happy bettors. I wouldn't have been brave enough to bet on us, even with these odds, on this Grand Prix.", admitted the Team Principal of Red Bull Racing to journalist Adam Cooper.

But Daniel Ricciardo's third success of the season was not delivered on a silver platter, the Australian having been forced to maintain a high pace to contain the return of Nico Rosberg at the end of the event which would only finish 'three seconds behind the RB10. “Daniel put in a pretty impressive performance”, added Christian Horner. “The settings turned out to be the right ones. The low downforce allowed him to have good speed on straight lines and to make the most of his car. On the other hand, the second sector had become the weak point. » The boss of the Austrian team should take the same direction for the Italian Grand Prix contested in two weeks at Monza. “We are going to remove the rear wing because I don’t think we can remove any more downforce”, he joked. “If we are competitive (at Spa), we can hope to be at least a little competitive at Monza, but this circuit will once again be favorable to Mercedes. »
