Horner: Red Bull can't be patient
Red Bull suffered again at the British GP held on July 5 with three retirements (Daniel Ricciardo, Max Verstappen et Carlos Sainz Jr). The stable of Milton Keynes impatiently awaiting developments on the Power Unit of Renault.
“It tests our patience”, commented Red Bull Racing Team Principal Christian Horner on the official F1 website. “We want to have performance for yesterday like any competitive team and that takes a lot more time with the engine than with the chassis. We're not really strong at being patient...But it will probably be a few more months before that happens. It has to happen this year. »
Between threats to leave Red Bull, his supposed discussions with Ferrari, and the Renault Sport projects F1,he partnership between the Austrian team and the French engine manufacturer seems more fragile than ever.
“I think it’s an exaggeration to say that Red Bull is flirting with Ferrari”, qualified Christian Horner. “Red Bull Group has had a relationship with Ferrari for many years as they have been the supplier of Toro Rosso. Sergio (Marchionne, Ferrari president) made us a generous offer without giving details at the Austrian GP, but we are focused on what we have. »
Christian Horner, who has just renewed his contract with Red Bull for several seasons, is nevertheless significantly more evasive in 2017. “It could be a completely different game”, said the Briton.
