Horner: “Sochi will be a challenge for Red Bull”

On paper, Red Bull arrives in Sochi with a disadvantage over Mercedes. The German team has won every race on the Russian track since 2014. A statistic which does not escape the team manager, Christian Horner: “ For me, Sochi is, like Monza, a typical Mercedes circuit so it will be a challenge for Red Bull ».

An unfavorable route where the leader of the world championship Max Verstappen is penalized 3 places following his collision with Lewis Hamilton, during the last Grand Prix. The Dutchman could even start at the back of the grid if the Austrians decide to change his engine and prevent the world championship leader from being penalized in two different races. A possible start in last position does not discourage Christian Horner: “ The penalty for Max is not a big handicap since there are long straights on this circuit. In 2018, Max moved from last to first before pitting, so it's possible to return to the front. We'll see what happens. »

A weekend where Red Bull could still lose points in the constructors' championship, the team is already 18 units behind its direct competitor Mercedes.
