Horner: “A pleasure to see Pierre obtain his first podium”

Accents Red Bull were undeniable on the podium of the Brazilian Grand Prix last Sunday. In addition to the success of Max Verstappen, Pierre Gasly brought his second podium in 2019 to Toro Rosso in the form of a second place, the Normand's best career result.

Enough to also offer its first double to the Honda engine manufacturer since the 1991 Japanese Grand Prix, when Gerhard Berger beat his teammate at McLaren Ayrton senna.

A performance highlighted by Christian Horner, Team Principal of Red Bull Racing, delighted for his “former driver”, the Frenchman having progressed to the Belgian Grand Prix with Milton Keynes before being demoted to Toro Rosso.

Since then, Gasly has continued to deliver good performances, before this podium won by showing himself to be efficient and also taking advantage of the events of the race, in particular the collision between the Ferrari de Hag and Leclerc.

“I think he does a very good job, analyzes Horner. By taking him out of the pressure environment of Red Bull, putting him back into the Toro Rosso environment, maybe in a car that's a little easier to drive, his confidence has been restored and he's putting in some excellent performances.

This is why we took up the option on him for 2020. It was a pleasure to see him get his first podium. It's a fantastic day for Red Bull. So much the better for Pierre and the team. And I hope this confidence will only grow. »
