Horner: Verstappen must 'stop making mistakes'

Red Bull seems to be the best performing team this weekend at the Monaco GP, as shown Daniel Ricciardo with his pole accompanied by the lap record. The Austrian team can nevertheless only count on one car after Max Verstappen made a mistake at the end of FP3, condemning the Dutchman to last position on the grid.

If his error is particularly penalizing on a street circuit like Monaco, Max Verstappen is not his first attempt this season since he has made more or less significant mistakes in each Grand Prix this season. And Red Bull is starting to lose patience.

“This place is unforgiving., commented Team Principal Christian Horner on Channel 4. IHe was punished quite severely today in a session which mainly served to refine the car's settings. This weekend he has a car capable of winning this Grand Prix, which is all the more frustrating. We don't often have the opportunity to win the Monaco GP. »

“He needs to learn from this and stop making mistakes He knows this better than anyone, underlined Christian Horner. It was a very difficult qualifying session for him when he saw where he could have finished. He is an incredibly fast driver who could have gone for pole today. »

Max Verstappen is 14 points behind his teammate Daniel Ricciardo after the first five races of the season.
