After the rumors of takeover of Toyota which we told you about last week (see here), HRT announced this morning that it had signed a contract with Williams regarding the supply of the gearbox. This exclusive partnership is in any case a first step forward for Colin Kolles? team with a view to 2011, as the Team Principal himself explains.
“This technical partnership is an important step for Hispania Racing, in terms of our desire to improve our performance. We are excited to do this with an engineering company like the Williams racing team. F1, who has impressive experience.”
Within the Grove team, we also seem delighted with this agreement. In addition to the Cosworth engine, the two single-seaters will also share the same gearbox.
“It is a logical partnership given that Williams and Hispania already have a relationship through Cosworth, continues Alex Burns, Williams F1 boss. Our gearboxes have always proven to be efficient and reliable. This agreement will therefore be positive for everyone.”
More than ever, HRT is expressing its desire to progress and reduce the gap separating it from the mid-table teams? Good news for everyone.
