HRT still has more under its belt according to Pérez-Sala

With the best result of a 15th place in Monaco thanks to Narain Karthikeyan, HRT is the red lantern of this 63rd season of the world championship of Formula 1. Even if the new team structure took time to put in place during the winter, the performances of the Spanish single-seaters are now close to those of the Marussias. According to the former F1 driver, his team will make further progress during the last nine Grands Prix, in particular thanks to the developments which will be made in Singapore.

« I think the F112 is a car that allowed us to achieve good results if you remember where we started, explains Pérez-Sala. During the winter I had a lot of doubts because we got the car back and didn't have enough time to work on it. The procedures and deadlines were not the same as usual and we had to move very quickly to make up for lost time and organize the different parties involved in the project so that it was ready on time. Even with all these obstacles, the car performs well. She has a good foundation and that is her greatest strength. It is reliable with good mechanical resistance and offers many development possibilities. I can say that we are only using 50% of its potential and we can always extract 50% more, mainly thanks to aerodynamics. »

For the third year in a row, HRT did not take part in winter testing. The team therefore had a difficult start in Australia before achieving each of its objectives thereafter. “ Since the start of the season, we have accomplished all the objectives we set for ourselves, He added. At the end of the 2011 season we decided to move our factory to Spain to create a new car so that we could enter the 107% easily. We have achieved this, so we can say that our objectives have been achieved. Now we have to have new ones. »
