Hülkenberg: “It’s going to be a shock”

Nico Hulkenberg will have competed in 177 Grands Prix before finding himself without a wheel for the next season. The old pilot Renault, replaced by Esteban Ocon in 2020, will find himself on foot for the first time after around ten years spent full time in F1.

If the German has been capable of brilliant performances, he has never managed to achieve the slightest podium. The former winner of 24 Hours of Le Mans prepare mentally to live away from competition.

“It’s going to be a shock,” admitted the 32-year-old pilot, quoted on the official F1 website. I have always been in the racing environment since I was 7 years old. It was around this age that I wanted to do F1, the age when you start to remember things. It was my whole life. »

“I've been here for ten years so this will be a break or a stop. So it will be a shock, but at the same time it will be interesting for me to see how I will evolve in this situation, where I will find my interests…”, added the German.

Nico Hülkenberg remains evasive about his future prospects, hoping despite everything to have the possibility of one day finding a seat at the highest level.

“I have 177 races behind me, few people can boast of having done so many… Nobody can say if an opportunity will present itself or not. That's how it is and I can live with it."he assured.
