Hülkenberg explains his curious pit stop

Once again, tires were the center of attention this Sunday at Silverstone. Wanting to avoid further punctures during the race, the teams did not hesitate to call their drivers back to the pits. So, some of them went to the pits two or even three times to put on new tires. This is the case of Nico Hulkenberg whose third and final stop caught the attention of many people.

While some thought that Racing Point had given him a third stop so that Lance stroll could grab a few points with a view to the world championship, the German gave a completely different version at the microphone of Canal+ in the parc ferme.

“I needed new tires. My rear tires were blistered, I felt strong vibrations. There were only seven or eight laps left but I felt like I couldn't reach the finish. I don't know why this situation was so alarming because my second stint went well. I was able to control my pace and the tires.”

Sweeping away any controversy with one hand, Nico Hülkenberg says he is on top and ready to continue: “Physically, I feel in great shape, I could continue straight away with another Grand Prix! ". It remains to be seen whether Sergio Pérez will return to Barcelona next weekend.
