Achieving a Grand Slam is no easy feat. Among the almost 800 drivers to have ever competed in a Grand Prix (772 to be precise since the 1er Grand Prize for the history of F1 in 1950), only 26 of them managed the performance of achieving pole position, winning on Sunday, leading all the laps and setting the best time in the race. 12 years ago, Fernando Alonso had the chance to integrate this very closed circle achieving the feat during the 2010 Singapore Grand Prix.

How far gone are those days when Fernando Alonso and Ferrari were still fighting for the two titles at the Singapore Grand Prix. This year, the story is completely different with a Max Verstappen almost champion at 6 meetings at the end of the year, far ahead Charles Leclerc and the Scuderia. 12 years ago, the Spaniard and the house of Maranello (Italy) stood up to Red Bull and his duo Mark Webber/Sebastian Vettel, serious contenders for the crown in 2e part of the season.

Arriving on the streets of the city-state, the momentum is clearly on Fernando Alonso's side. The double world champion comes out of an incredible first Italian Grand Prix in Ferrari colors with pole position and victory. In Singapore, the Bull of Asturias confirmed the trend with a masterstroke.

In pole position for 2e time of the season, two weeks after the first at Monza, the Iberian quickly made it clear who was boss on the track by blocking Sebastian Vettel as soon as the lights went out. A battle then followed between the two men, from which the Spaniard would emerge victorious.

On the track, Sebastian Vettel tried everything and in the pits everything did not go as planned for Red Bull. At 29e turn when he thought he was performing the undercut, the German saw Alonso stop at the same moment, de facto annihilating the Austrian strategy. As if that wasn't enough, the engine Renault of his RB6 gave him a fright by briefly cutting himself.

Despite the Vettel threat in his mirrors, Alonso held on to win by just under 3 tenths, a year later the revelation of “Crashgate” who had given him success two years earlier at the same place. He thus won his 25e career victory, equaling the greats Jim Clark and Niki Laud for the occasion. This 4e The success of the season allowed him to move back to 11 points behind the championship leader, Mark Webber. In the end, the Iberian was going to see his 3e world champion title slip away a few months later in Abu Dhabi where Sebastian Vettel was crowned for the first time.
