Andretti vs Formula 1 : episode 38, season 6. Almost a year after seeing its application rejected by F1, against a backdrop of conflict in particular with Liberty Media and its CEO Greg Maffei, the American family is not giving up.

Since January 31 and the final announcement regarding the rejection of its request to join the starting grid from 2025, the Indianapolis-based team has been multiplying its press appearances and meetings with the governing bodies, always with the same ambition: to one day be part of Formula 1, ideally in the short term.

Last August, it was the president of the structure, JF Thormann, who spoke in a promotional video to recall (once again) the desires of the Andretti clan, assuring that " Mike (Michael Andretti) still has this great ambition, we still have to finalize the file with F1, as everyone knows »

Recently, it was Mario who made his statement, a new one, as he dreams of seeing the Andretti name associated with F1 again. While his son Michael has taken a step back, leaving the management of his own team, the 1978 world champion revealed that there was still movement behind the scenes.

« This is a topic where the protagonists are my son Michael and his company, not me., explains Mario Andretti in the columns of La Gazzetta dello Sport.

What I can say is that there will be news and changes, and I fully support my son in all the decisions and choices he has made during this time and will make in the future to best manage the situation. »

And I wonder if someone, maybe GM, had Greg Maffei's skin behind the scenes...

Beyond the investigation requested by the US Congress on compliance with antitrust and competition rules, the departure of Greg Maffei from his post as CEO of Liberty Media must be a new element because he had made the refusal to authorize the arrival of Andretti Global a personal conflict with the Andretti family.
