When you accelerate, it never seems to stop” reacted the pilot of Formula 2. “The brakes are also impressive. In addition to the drivers, it was special to work with the team. There are a lot of them and they pay attention to every little detail. »

At midday, Callum Ilott, who has already experienced the joys of F1 with theAlfa Romeo C38 in 2019, took over for a few laps. The Briton especially noted the aerodynamic efficiency. “You have a level of grip that you can never find in other categories. Then there's the extreme engine power and instant braking. »

Mick Schumacher concluded the session.. “It was really helpful to get used to all these procedures, which are quite complex, and how a team works at the highest level of this sport. » The 21-year-old German is the most experienced, having tested the SF90 and the Alfa Romeo in Bahrain last year. “I was able to drive an F2004 at Mugello this year but it’s a bit old now. With the 2018 car I was able to understand how important electronics are for the engine. Formula 1 cars have also made enormous progress in terms of aerodynamics. »

Mick Schumacher and Callum Ilott are due to take part in Free Practice 1 at the Eifel Grand Prix at the Nürburgring on October 9 with Alfa Romeo and Haas. “There will be mechanics who worked with my father, so it will be really special” according to Mick Schumacher.
