Infiniti lifts the veil on the Prototype 9

A few days ago, Infiniti announced the presentation of a retro prototype for the next Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California. The Hong Kong-based brand finally brought forward the real formalization of its creation by revealing this Saturday the first images of its Prototype 9.

Evoking the single-seaters of the 40s and 50s, this Prototype 9 is the result of work in collaboration with Nissan, since the Japanese firm, parent company of Infiniti with Renault, supplied the 100% electric powertrain, as well as the batteries.

The car thus benefits from 148 hp and a torque of 320 Nm, transmitted to the rear wheels only with a single-speed gearbox. This Prototype 9 can reach 170 km/h and goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 5″5. Autonomy is given for twenty minutes in intensive use.

The Prototype 9 has dimensions of 4,33 m in length and 1,82 m in width. The chassis is made of steel just like the hull, an assembly of panels made by hand, for a total mass of 890 kg, with a front-rear distribution displayed at 43%/57%.

« While the essence of the Prototype 9 is rooted in the past, it runs on a next-generation electric powertrain that looks toward the future. » comments Roland Krueger, chairman of the board of directors.
