Interlagos returns for 5 years

While Rio de Janeiro had announced its circuit project to be the scene of the next Brazilian Grands Prix, the Formula 1 is not expected to go there, at least not before 2026, despite the support of Liberty Media.

Indeed, an agreement has been reached between Sao Paulo, traditional venue for the Brazilian Grand Prix, and Liberty Media, as announced by the governor of São Paulo, João Doria a few days ago. This agreement covers the next five years and therefore until 2025.

Note the change in naming for the event. It is no longer the Brazilian Grand Prix but the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.

A real setback for the Rio de Janeiro project which dreamed of hosting the paddock there for the first time since 1989 (Jacarepaguá circuit).
