D-1: Kvyat still threatened by Gasly?

Daniil Kvyat did not come far from dismissal at Red Bull. Due to a lack of results, the Russian who was racing at the start of the season on the RB12 during the first Grands Prix was demoted to Toro Rosso to make room for Max Verstappen. The outrage was all the more scathing as the young Dutchman immediately won the Spanish GP.

The threat Pierre Gasly

Kvyat could have suffered an even heavier sanction since Pierre Gasly has long been expected to play alongside Carlos Sainz Jr at Toro Rosso. The Frenchman put all the chances on his side by winning the GP2 Series (recently renamed F2) after a duel with Antonio Giovinazzi. The French driver will wait while playing in Super Formula within Team Mugen, taking the path recently taken by Stoffel Vandoorne who will play his first season as a starter with McLaren.

Daniil Kvyat will therefore have to shine to ensure a future with the Red Bull. The Austrian energy drink company may be interested in the Russian market, but it will have to take sporting results into account to ensure fresh blood in the event of withdrawal in its ranks.
