James Key stays at Toro Rosso

James Key will remain the technical director of Toro Rosso. The second stable of Red Bull has confirmed the contract extension of its engineer with whom it has worked since September 2012. The Briton previously worked at Spyker, Force India and Sauber F1 team.

“I am delighted to continue with Toro Rosso and remain part of the Red Bull family, comments James Key. This is a team for whom I have great respect and with whom I have enjoyed working over the past five years. Toro Rosso is unique in meeting the challenge of being split into two countries and fulfilling the roles of an independent and equally important team in Red Bull's drivers program. »

“The people I work with are professional, ambitious and focused and are dedicated to improving team performance. We will continue this work with the same dedication and optimism in the years to come. »

James Key is already working on the design of the STR13 for the 2018 season. The Briton is also in charge of part of the recruitment within the team, the management of operations in Faenza and the work in the wind tunnel in Bicester (Grande -Brittany).

“F1 is a team sport where one person can make the difference, adds Franz Tost, Team Principal of Toro Rosso. So far, James has proven he can make that difference by leading the technical side of operations. He has not only produced aero packages that are valued in the paddock but he has also demonstrated his management skills by managing several departments in Faenza and Bicester. »
